There are quite a few job boards out there. LinkedIn, Indeed, Monster, and others. What you may not know is there are also niche job boards. There is a job board just for government jobs. There are also job boards for high-end executives, graphic artists and more. If you find a niche board for your career or goal, definitely utilize it, but don’t put all your time there either.
How Do I Know If It Is a Good Board?
Is one better than the other, I am on the fence and still think it is a personal preference as to which one is better for each individual, their career, their goals, etc. If you are in the market, I say try them all and see what works best for you. Look at how many jobs are posted; does it have the jobs you are looking for? If it only has a few jobs and isn’t a niche board, probably either just getting started or not a good board. I recommend doing a niche job board if you find one for the type of job you are looking for, but that doesn’t mean all jobs are there or that is the only one to use.
Do A Wide Search
You don’t want to depend just on one board with so many options, not everyone will use the same board. It is possible that some general boards could pull from niche boards, but they could not. The general job boards are good, but you have to weed through what is there and try to find your specialty. It can be a challenge, but it is worth it to find the right fit for you.
