You landed your first job this year, it’s Christmas time which means tax season and getting that refund to help pay off Christmas is just around the corner. One of the joys of being young and first starting out is having very few tax forms you need to file your taxes. Usually it is just a W-2 from your employer and a 1099 from your bank for all the interest you have earned off all the money you save over the year you will only get a 1099 if you earned 10 dollars or more off interest.
Taxes: DIY
With only having a few forms it is a simple process of doing your own taxes and not paying someone to do them for you. I usually use HR Block’s website. I have always liked their software better; it seems easier to understand over their competition. Yes, it can be very frustrating about all the times they try to get you to upgrade to a version that costs money. But as long as you read everything carefully you should be fine. The great thing is you can always ask your parents or a trusted adult for help. You usually can do it free if you just have the basic tax forms. Remember, if you get your tax form in the mail to make sure you put them up where you know where they are when you are ready to file. Don’t waste money because you do not want to learn how to do your taxes.
